Questions

How were these accounts chosen?

Each sells a business checking account to US small businesses, shows the monthly fee and any conditions on its own site, can be opened online or in a branch by a US small business, and was on sale on the check date. The starting list was 16: Mercury, Relay, Bluevine, Novo, Found, Lili, NBKC Business, Axos Bank, Chase Business Complete Banking, Bank of America Business Advantage, Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, Capital One, Huntington, Truist and Regions. All 16 met the rule. This page holds at most ten, so one extra rule was applied to every candidate in the same way: the ten that come first on the starting list are shown, and the other six (Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, Capital One, Huntington, Truist and Regions) are not. The order of the starting list is not a ranking and says nothing about quality; the six were read and recorded in the same way as the ten, so they can be added later. For each provider the page shows its entry-level business checking account, meaning the tier with the lowest monthly fee that a small business can open, and names other tiers inside the Monthly fee row. This page lists the ten in alphabetical order and does not rank them, and it gives no advice on which account to open.

Where do the fees and rates come from?

Each provider's own product pages, fee schedules or account agreements, help centre and contact pages, in US dollars, read on 2026-11-02. Every figure says which account or plan it covers, any condition for it and the date of the document where the document shows one. Interest rates are variable and change, so the Interest row gives the rate, the balance tier and account it applies to and the date; a page that shows no 'as of' date is marked undated. Promotions are named as promotions with the regular terms beside them: Axos Bank's $200 welcome bonus offer, Bank of America's first-12-months fee holiday and its up-to-$2,500 new-client bonus, Lili's first-three-months plan prices, Mercury's add-on prices shown as waived until 2026-12-31 and Relay's limited-time Scale price. Several pages build prices or fees with scripts or in PDF documents, so some were read in a browser, and display switches were changed only to read other displayed prices. Fees and rates change often, so check the provider's own pages for today's terms.

Who holds the deposits, and what does FDIC insurance mean on this page?

Six of the ten (Bluevine, Found, Lili, Mercury, Novo and Relay) state that they are financial technology companies, not banks, and that banking services are provided by partner banks they name. The other four (Axos Bank, Bank of America, Chase and NBKC Business) present themselves as the bank. The 'Who holds the deposits' row records each provider's own words about its bank, about FDIC insurance and about any sweep or deposit-network arrangement, attributed to the provider and marked as the provider's claim. This page states no coverage amount in its own voice, does not compare these arrangements and does not judge them; deposit insurance applies to the failure of an insured bank, under the conditions each provider describes.

What does "Not publicly stated" mean?

The provider's pages did not say. It does not mean the answer is no.
