Questions
How were these podcast hosting platforms chosen?
Each hosts podcast audio and publishes an RSS feed that can be submitted to directories such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify, shows a free plan or plan prices on its own site, can be started without a sales call, and was on sale on the check date. The starting list was Buzzsprout, Transistor, Libsyn, Captivate, Podbean, Spotify for Creators, RSS.com, Acast, Simplecast, Castos, Blubrry, Spreaker, Podomatic, Audioboom and Megaphone. Fourteen met that rule. Megaphone did not: its pricing page shows a $99 per month Professional plan and a custom Enterprise plan, but the button on both goes to a contact form and no sign-up is offered, so starting needs a conversation. The page holds at most ten, so four were set aside by one extra rule applied the same way to all fourteen: the provider's own pages must show a way to start for nothing or for less than $15.00 a month, meaning a free plan with no end date or a paid plan priced under $15.00 per month when billed monthly. Captivate, Castos, Simplecast and Transistor show no free plan (each offers a free trial) and their cheapest paid plan is $19, $19, $15 and $19 per month billed monthly, so they are not listed. This says nothing about the quality of any host left out. The page lists the ten in alphabetical order and does not rank them.
Where do the prices come from?
Each host's own pricing page, plan comparison, help centre and terms, in US dollars, read on 2026-11-02. Each price says the plan, the billing term and the unit it covers, and where a page shows a monthly price and a yearly price both are given. Several pages build their prices with scripts, so they were read in a browser, and billing switches were changed only to read other displayed prices; no sign-up, trial or checkout was started. Statements a host makes about itself, such as unlimited hosting or industry-certified statistics, are the host's own words and are attributed to it. Prices, limits and free plans change often, so check the host before you buy.
What does "Not publicly stated" mean?
The host's pages did not say. It does not mean the answer is no.
